Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) urges all travelers to build in additional time for departing flights out of MSP. MSP anticipates that Monday, Feb. 5, will be the busiest day in the airport’s history, with more than 60,000 people passing through security on their way to departing flights.
The next day, Tuesday, Feb. 6, is expected to be the second busiest day in MSP history.
The airport and its partners have added staff and resources to accommodate the increased passenger traffic. That includes security screeners, transportation services and hundreds of additional volunteers on hand to guide passengers.
To provide the most efficient travel experience possible, MSP is encouraging departing visitors to use the “5-4-3-2-1” strategy. Additional information is available at MSP’s Super Bowl website.
Five hours before your scheduled departure, check out of your hotel.
Four hours before, return your rental car.
Three hours before, arrive at the ticketing level to check any baggage.
Two hours before, be in line at a security checkpoint.
And one hour before, arrive at your departure gate.
Following that timeline will provide travelers needed flexibility should they encounter delays ahead of their scheduled departure time.
