The City is hosting two open houses Wednesday, Oct. 18 at the Minneapolis Central Library, 300 Nicollet Mall, to provide updates on the 4th Street Reconstruction Project.
The open houses will be held noon-1 p.m. in the library’s Pohlad Hall and 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the Doty Board Room. Staff will discuss the project’s background, design process and next steps. There are opportunities to provide feedback on a draft layout for the street.
The City plans to reconstruct 4th Street in downtown Minneapolis between 2nd Avenue North and 4th Avenue South. Design and engineering is underway and construction is expected to start in 2019. Utility work is scheduled for 2018.
The goal is to improve the street’s infrastructure for pedestrians, bicyclists, transit and cars. Plans call for improved crosswalks, additional pedestrian space and enhanced landscaping. A bikeway will also be maintained on the street.
